The Journey
Davie Fairbanks is a writer, filmmaker, and former performer whose creative journey has spanned stage, screen, and now the written word. A graduate of the London arts scene, Davie’s early career saw him acting and singing on some of the UK’s biggest stages — including a highlight performance in the West End musical Daddy Cool. His love of storytelling later led him behind the camera, where he wrote and directed for Universal Pictures, bringing cinematic stories to life. Teaching at the London Film Academy became one of his most rewarding chapters — guiding aspiring writers to find their voice and their vision. Never one to stand still creatively, Davie turned to fiction, where he found a new kind of freedom in storytelling. His debut novel, Revelations – Menelik’s Dagger, launches a supernatural apocalyptic series that weaves myth, history, and humanity into an exploration of belief and consequence. Now in the midst of completing his second book in the Revelations series, Davie continues to explore the endless ways stories connect us — across genres, mediums, and lifetimes. “I never thought I’d write a book,” he says, “but then I never thought I’d appear on a West End stage, or make a movie for Universal. Life keeps surprising me — and I hope the stories do the same.”

Escaping in Stories When I think about how storytelling has shaped my life, I see a thread that runs through every chapter — from performing on a West End stage, to teaching at the London Film Academy, to sitting quietly at a desk, chasing words across a page. My first book, Revelations – Menelik’s Dagger, became many things — a love letter to growing up in London, scattered with the names and faces of my youth. People and places I once knew found their way into fiction, reborn as assassins, archbishops, and echoes of memory. The streets where I was raised, the church where I was christened, even the first place I ever worked — they all became part of that imagined world. But as the story unfolded over several years, life began to mirror fiction in unexpected ways. A decline in health turned the act of writing into a battle. Some days it was just a few stolen hours, distracted by pain — yet those hours mattered more than any others. Writing became a point to prove, not to anyone else, but to myself. As the characters took shape, they began to whisper pieces of my own life back to me. Through them, I found myself confronting questions of faith and purpose — questions I hadn’t planned to ask, and still don’t have all the answers to. Their voices became mirrors for my own searching, and through that reflection, my faith deepened. Somewhere along the way, I began to find my voice — and with it, a style. I wanted to create layers: a story that works on the surface as an adventure, but that holds something deeper for those who wish to look closer. Symbolism runs quietly throughout Menelik’s Dagger — threads of history, spirit, and self. That’s a story for another time. In my next post, I’ll share a few of those hidden meanings — the symbols and moments that even the most attentive readers might have missed. But for now, I’m simply grateful — for the story, for the struggle, and for the escape that writing continues to offer. Here’s to escaping in stories, and to finding ourselves somewhere along the way.
Revelations: Menelik’s Dagger
Revelations – Menelik’s Dagger is a supernatural apocalyptic novel that weaves myth, history, and faith into a modern struggle for survival. It’s the first book in the Revelations series — a world where ancient relics hold the keys to the future, and the end of days begins not with destruction, but with remembrance.
